Best for Super 8 and 8mm film. 0 people found this helpfulIf you have super 8- and 8-mm film to be scan, do it yourselves. This is a lot cheaper than sending it off to be done.

Loving looking at some 70 year old 8 mm reels. 0 people found this helpfulTrying to preserve my parents 8mm reels. Some are 70 years old. The machine is so easy to use. Easy instructions. Lightweight. You can look at the movies as you record them onto an SD card. I am loving it so far. I have 70 8 mm reels to go through and their quality is poor. Old projector broke. This Magnasonic is an answer to my prayers! I would buy it again and I recommend it to my friends and family!

FANTASTIC Digitizer for 8mm home movies (bought a different one first but returned it) 0 people found this helpfulThis is a fantastic Digitizer for BOTH 8mm and Super 8 home movies (bought a different one first but returned it). I've already digitized all of my family's 64 rolls! The quality is superb. I originally purchased a different unit, which looks almost identical, but returned that one scanning about 10 reels. It was more difficult to thread. It jammed more frequently. And worst of all, the movies all scanned with a smudge spot in the same place, so clearly it was poorly built and assembled. HOW TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE. The bad scanner has (4) gray pegs on the right side that the film gets threaded around. The GOOD SCANNER, only has (3) gray pegs. Be careful... the units all look the same, and in fact the computer chip is programmed almost identically because the menu works virtually the same. I think most of the machines listed on Amazon have been made as cheap knock-offs of this quality unit.

Saves $$ compared to sending my home movies to a professional copying service 0 people found this helpfulI have been looking at sending dozens of 8mm films from the 1950's and 1960's off to be digitized. It is an expensive process. This unit does the job at a fraction of the cost. It takes time to digitize each film. A 3' reel takes about 30 minutes, but the result is a quality digitized copy of the film. I have completed over 20 reels so far and have about 50 more to go. No problems with the unit at all. I am very happy with this Magnasonic film scanner.
