Have now had my new RT85N and I'm completely over the moon on the quality and performance of this turntable. From beginning of the ordering process to the set up Fluance has done a stunningly superb job with customer service. When I received the turn table last week I experienced some personal difficulty setting up the counter weight of the tonearm. Immediately called you customer service line and was patiently and professionally corrected as to the proper procedural path by both a wonderful young woman and an additional technician named Brent. I'm an old man in my seventies and have not owned a new turntable since well, the 70's My old turntable from that Era was a Technics direct drive. I never thought I could get that sound again unless I spent a fortune. I think I can say without reservation that the RT85N delivers high end audio quality reasonable price without sacrificing sound or quality.

This turntable is a lovely purchase! The sound quality is EXCELLENT! Assembly and set up was a breeze. I used a stylus force gauge and set the weight pressure to 1.75 g (the mean between 1.5 & 2.0 recommended). And then set the anti skate to 2. I also purchased the suggested Fluance PA-10 preamp and it works well with its RIAA fixed EQ. I did note online that it doesn't have an auto stop feature but the servo stops gently after 30 seconds at the end of the record and shuts off, without climbing the label... Handy feature when you might possibly doze off during a listening session. The acrylic turntable (I've never had one before) really looks cool! I used the gloves provided to limit the fingerprints on the platter. I tested the shock membrane of the entire unit and it is fantastic. It might skip when wrestling on the floor near the device while playing a record but it will certainly handle a child runnjng through your listening area without any worries. ☺️???????? I recommend this set to anyone!

Loving Every Minute 10 people found this helpful

Growing up in a house filled with vinyl I have always loved every aspect of playing records. Fast forward; after researching mid-grade tables for the better part of a year lead me to Fluance. Numerous reviews, and forums lead me being ever more confident this was the right choice. I am loving every minute of it. My 12yo daughter assisted with the unpacking and setup, which was easier than I thought. The manual has excellent detail on every step. Once we finished hooking everything together it was time for the first spin, being a record she picked out at the local music store. Now I realize we are still “breaking in” the needle during its first 20 hours, but already-wow! Compared to what I remember listening to my Dad’s audiophile home system it is on par. Using the player is easy enough that my daughter is confident to spin records on her own after our first play through. Now we are auditioning four different phono preamps to see which one works best with the current monitors from my home recording studio. The adventure begins and it could not have started any better.

Great looking walnut base. Amazingly simple to set up with well-written instructions. I actually think it outperforms my old Technics/SME III combination. The Nagoaka cartridge is a great performer, sounding good on a variety of records (Jazz, rock, classical). Purchasing was simple and delivery was super fast. The price was right. I am quite pleased with my purchase.
