UPDATE:
CWD Customer Service contacted me shortly after I left this original review below and
offered to exchange my unit for a new one. I was traveling a lot for business at the time
and wasn't able to return it until some time later. Lisa, the CWD Customer Service rep
continually followed up to make sure I received the pre-paid label and offer assistance.
The delays were my fault, but after finally getting the unit back to them, a new one
arrived several days later. I'm happy to say it has worked flawlessly. Audio and video
sync perfectly, the audio never drops, and the transmitter and receiver do not overheat. I
get a great 1080p signal to my flat screen TV with no issues. It's obvious I received a
defective unit initially and I couldn't be more please with both the Customer Service and
new Aries Prime, and have changed my rating from 2 to 5 stars. This is a great product and
I love no longer having to deal with HDMI cables running everywhere!
Original review:
The device is dead simple to set up. Just plug the power cord in and the HDMI cable from
the receiver into the TV HDMI input. Then plug the transmitter into the HDMI out port on a
laptop, DVD player, etc. The transmitter requires power thru either an AC adaptor, or a
USB cord plugged into a powered USB port. Unfortunately my experience has been from the
start that it only works for about 10 to 15 minutes. After that the TV goes black for
about 20 seconds, then the video signal will return, but with no audio. If left running,
it repeats this again and again every 10-15 minutes. You have to completely power cycle
both the transmitter and the receiver each time in order to get the audio signal back.
I've tested it on several laptops, three DVD players and two different TV's, all with the
same results. I've been back and forth with the manufacturer's customer service who keep
telling me to try testing different setups even though I've asked them to replace it with
a new one. Both the transmitter and the receiver get very very hot, even though I don't
have them in an enclosed space. It's been just almost a month with these issues and I've
not been able to get the seller or the manufacturer to provide and exchange or an RMA to
return it. I would not recommend the ARIES Prime.
