Product Review (submitted on July 16, 2016):

The Nyrius HDMI transceiver system generally works very well in my home. We use it for sending HD video/audio to our ceiling-mounted Viewsonic projector from either a DVR or our iMac, which are both less than 20 feet from the projector. Occasionally it will "channel hop," especially at the beginning of a program, but it's never failed to make a connection, and it does so automatically as soon as every thing is connected and powered up.
The two major faults are:
(1) The transmitter gets very hot. Eventually its electronics will get fried, though ours has been working for about 2 years so far. The case does have ventilation slots for the sake of cooling.
(2) The use of a USB mini-B connector for the transmitter's power supply, with the jack soldered directly onto the internal circuitboard, was a foolish design decision. After a few months of use, the jack became loose and the transmitter stopped working. My hubby solved this by opening the case (voiding the warranty...) and wiring up a separate standard 2.1/5.5 mm coaxial DC power jack that he strapped to the transmitter with cable ties. This type of connector is commonly used with "wall wart" (or "power brick") DC power supplies - we already had a 5-volt 2-amp one that works fine.
We would have given the Nyrius 5 star rating except for this design fault. If you install the transmitter somewhere and seldom move it, you won't experience the durability problem with the power connector. -Verified Store
