I've been experimenting (playing) with this little gem. As a guitarist I had to check the claim that pedals should not be used. To be safe I put on a decent quality set of headphones so I wouldn't damage the speakers. I used reverb, chorus and delay pedals.
If you start gently the speakers will handle those kinds of pedals. Do NOT use distortion!!(sounds like a little transistor radio from the '60's). Don't try to overload the unit. Mid volume is about the best you can get.
The headphone experience was enlightening. Great sound. I used Sennheiser over-ear. -
Love the sound and retro look. Am listening to it every day.
Don't regret buying it. I think good value. -
Great little unit. Decent sound quality from the 2 speakers. Luckily I bought mine at BestBuy.ca for under $50!! Same free shipping.

It's great, I use as a Bluetooth speaker amp and a guitar amp.A good buy for the price.

I got this because I wanted something with classic styling that would look great no matter where you used it. Most of the other large BT speakers would certainly be louder, however they all looked cheap, particularly with the colorful LED woofer cones. This speaker basically does only 2 things: 1) Plays music and 2) allows you to play some guitars through it. I don't use it for guitars. The sound is very clear and smooth. Crisp highs and deep base. I use it outdoors on my patio while cooking food or chilling by the fire. Looks like the old-school Marshall speakers. Good quality, very heavy and portable. Unfortunately not battery powered, which is its one big negative. I love it.

I just love this retro Birmingham RS61 speaker/guitar amp. I wanted a good speaker for my computer and I also just bought an acoustic electric guitar, so this speaker fit the requirements perfectly. I use this device all day with my computer and can then plug in my guitar for some nice sound vibes. I did not want a fancy guitar amplifier that had many presets and programmed effects. This amp is simple and creates a nice sound. I highly recommend this product.

So curiosity and a lowered price got me to order this hybrid kinda speaker,it's NOT a guitar amp.first thing you see,(on the box flap)is that unit needs at least 10 hrs. of play for drivers movement to break in.only a single clean guitar signal can be used,NO pedals, to basically play along with any music you play.there are separate gain and guitar volume controls which are responsive.the design and build are well done at this price point.the Bluetooth works without issue(iPhone).playing music is pleasant not distorted but not very impressive.hopefully soon, this Canadian company and the rest of the world will take their assembly out of china.
