This unit replaced my 2.4Ghz unit. What a difference. No more interference from other electronic devices. Picture is clear and sound is great. You will still get some blackouts when someone passes in front of the unit but that is minor and cannot be avoided with any of these type of units. It's worth a buy - Verified purchase from Nyrius trusted store. -

This is my 2nd unit. The first one quit working after a few days, but the company sent me a replacement unit, and so far it is working great. It is very easy to set up, and it works even through brick walls. We are using it some on our patio and some in our garage. I would recommend it for an easy, inexpensive solution. - Verified purchase from Nyrius trusted store. -

    Overall Performance

I bought this to send to my mom so she could watch a small TV in the kitchen and finally remove the cable that was taped across the hall floor to it. The first one I bought worked fine in her apartment but a little more than a year later after she returned from an extended vacation (a month or two) it was no longer working. Some apartment cleaning had occurred while she was gone so I thought something probably got moved or disconnected. After trying all the normal things through long distance trouble shooting with her I decided that either the receiver or transmitter was bad and ordered another pair, this time purchasing a 3 year extended protection plan. I had it delivered to my home to verify it worked and it worked flawlessly. So I mailed it to my mom and had her replace both her units with these new ones. Still did not work. She has about a 20 foot line of sight between the receive and transmitter. Did verify that connecting the cables that go to the transmitter instead to the TV directly made the TV work, so those audio/video cables are good for sure. I also had her for testing purposes move the receiver about 6 feet away from the transmitter and that did not work. Followed the normal trouble shooting, verifying the 3 switch IDs were tthe same on the receiver an transmitter (which were the same as I left them when I troubleshooted at my home). Verifying the cables were connected to the correct inputs, the TV was selecting this video/audio input, pushing the receiver channel selection button several times to sync up the receiver to xmitter on several different channel, verifying the units had power, etc. No luck. Next thing to try is to verify the audio video cables hooked to the receiver are still good although these are the same ones that worked before and it seems unlikely that they would just go bad, but will swap the ones that come in the new box to see if that fixes it. I'll also try moving the transmitter further away from the Big TV and cable box to see if that makes a difference. Doing long distance trouble shooting also makes things more difficult. Last thing I'll try is to to remove the Y cable between the cable box output and the Big TV and nyrius transmiter and for testing just have it go to the nyrius transmitter and not the Big TV incase some how the video/audio levels were marginal and could no longer drive both the Big TV and nyrius transmitter. My mom hasn't any new 5.8 Ghz devices in her apartment so unless there is some overall new 5.8 Ghz WIFI in the bldg or from another apartment near by I'm not sure what else it could be and if it was it would have to be pretty strong to keep the transmitter and receiver just 6 feet apart from not working (i.e. from overpowering the receiver) To bad the transmitter doesn't have a test mode/button you could push that would send a simple video/audio test pattern, and the receiver have a similiar thing to output a simple video test pattern. That would make trouble shooting easier as you could localize the problem easier. But I guess that would drive up the cost of the product , and maybe this is not needed for the number of times these issues happen. Anyway I still think the product is good but should have some self test mode, and my mom's has some weird setup/environment issue. When I finally get it figured out I'll post what i found. Possibly the original units are still good but don't know at this point. - Verified purchase from Nyrius trusted store. -
