I had read all the reviews and knew the good and the bad opinions so was prepared to tackle ... 0 people found this helpfulAbout 7 months ago a power surge fried my "nature sounds" alarm clock. I immediately went to Amazon to research the same kind of alarm clock which led me to all the other alarm/clock/radios out there and after days and nights of reading reviews I decided I wanted to try waking up with light instead of noise/music. I chose the Electrohome Retro Alarm Clock Radio because it offered the wake-up light and after 30 minutes, a back up alarm in case I slept thru the light. I had read all the reviews and knew the good and the bad opinions so was prepared to tackle the instruction booklet when the clock arrived. I had no problem with the set-up. The instruction were a little extensive because of all the different options but easy to understand and in no time my alarm clock was all set up. I found out the next morning that it takes very little light to wake me and once the light went off I could not go back to sleep because it was so bright. I'm not a snooze person so I had to do some adjusting to get the light and alarm time to suit me. I found that if I set the alarm light to only go to half brilliance then it would be much dimmer at the start and easier to wake up gradually. I also realized I needed to move my alarm time about 15 minutes forward because of the 30 minutes of light before the buzzer. Since I have started using the clock I usually wake up after about 5 minutes of light and I just get up and turn off the alarm. It is so much more restful to wake up this way. I did sleep thru the light one time and the buzzer came on. It was not very loud but got faster and faster which encourages a person to get up and shut it off. I find that I enjoy waking up to light. With my other alarm clock I would have to turn my nature sounds up to the highest level for them to wake me. And I got a little bored hearing the same wave over and over on a loop. I do think it would be better if there were less options on this clock. All the options are what cause the instruction booklet to be a keeper. I had to look up how to set the light on the face of the clock to the dimmest setting after I touched a button on the side and it got too bright. I tried the radio and on the stations with a good signal, both AM/FM, sounded ok for a clock radio. That's not what I wanted it for so I don't use it. I did unplug it once and it kept it's memory. I have never had any problems and overall, I really like this alarm clock. It does what I want it to do and after adjusting for personal preferences I think it is a great alarm clock for people who want to wake up to light. - Verified Store

Very good and looks great! 0 people found this helpfulGreat and fun looking product. I like the scrolling display that shows time, temp and date. The display and night light light level options are very good for those who want low, medium or high light. Swiping your hand over the sensor on top for Snooze and Night Light is really cool. Some improvements might include a more accurate indoor temp reading (it's 2 degrees high) and especially, more built in alarm buzzer / sound options, such as nature sounds instead of just a buzzer.
