SoundStageXperience.com Review of the Fluance SXHTB+ 5 Speaker Surround Sound Home Theater System
"Once you resign yourself to dealing with music in Dolby ProLogic II Music mode -- and I know a lot of folks who do just that regardless of the sound source -- there’s not a whole lot these puppies can’t do. Movies and television (especially pro football or baseball broadcasts in 5.1 sound) were handled flawlessly. For $374.99 American money. $374.99. I’ve spent that much on a pipe . . . or two. The Fluance SXHTB+ system is one of the great audio bargains of this or any other millennium."Read the Full Review

I absolutely LOVE these speakers….the sound quality is great….in my opinion tho it definitely needs a subwoofer to bring out that THEATER sound if that’s what your looking for…..I decided to buy TWO and complete my set up…..this system is worth EVERY penny spent!!….the white is so modern sleek and classy I love it…..definitely would recommendSteve T 5
I purchased this set about 18 months ago and am as pleased with them now as I was when I bought them. They look great in the white option, which is kinda rare in this price/quality range. The sound is full and clear and crisp. I do believe most people will want to add a sub to fill out the low end. I love it both for music and for movies.Joshua B 5

First off, let me say that I am no audio expert by any stretch. After years of using sound bars, I started to toy with the idea of upgrading to a full home theater set up. I knew this would be a tall order especially due to wife approval and budget constraints. Starting in November of last year, I started to seriously research speaker systems from all the major manufacturers, only to realize that most were priced well above what I was comfortable spending. Then I came across Fluance through a YouTube review. I was intrigued by the positive performance versus cost aspect of the review. Essentially the reviewer was impressed by the fact that Fluance was manufacturing a speaker that performed as well as much higher end speakers for a fraction of the price. So I checked out Fluance’s website. I purchased the Elite 5.0 with the DB12 subwoofer back in January. The box’s looked beat up, especially the tower box. However, due to extreme packaging, everything was in excellent condition. It’s felt like Christmas as I unboxed all the speakers. My only complaint is that the spiked feet for the towers were floating around in the box, but fortunately they were all there. I’m using an Onkyo TX-NR545 7 channel receiver that I bought used. Let me just say that these speakers have exceeded my expectations, and everyday I continue to be impressed. I’m a movie nut and I collect 4K Blu-ray’s. This system has taken my movie watching to new heights, and provides a totally immersive experience. The DB12 subwoofer literally shakes the house! I am also using Klipsch Dolby Atmos height speakers to complete my set up. Fluance speakers exude value and quality. I fully expect to have this system provide years of movie and music listening pleasure.Boyd B 5
I think these speakers sound (and look) fantastic. I have them hooked up to my (sorta old) Sony surround sound receiver and love what it has added to my new home theater. Note: I'm not an audiophile by any stretch -- just an average guy that loves watching movies at a pretty good volume and listing to music and these speakers definitely fit the bill and didn't break the bank! Highly recommend!mgreifenkamp 5
I've owned these speakers for about 4 year. The sound was okay. Nothing that will blow you away. The bass definitely lacks. Some speakers will give you grate quality at a great price. These give you good quality at a good price.lee h 3

I didnt know much about Fluance when I started looking for a set of replacement home theater speakers. Initially it just looked like anyone who made anything remotely good was really into their own product more than the value the product actually gave. I took a chance on Fluance after researching a lot of different offerings. Coming from a background in employment in setting up very high end audio, I know about quality, but am not very picky myself when it comes to my own costs involved. What I mean is that I value good audio, but not at some diminishing returns area where stellar is great, but largely wont justify the costs unless you have money to burn. In comes the Fluance. I am very impressed for the money at the quality of the build and sound. Very full sound, easy to setup and packaging that made sure it arrived safely, but not overly engineered to cause a lot of waste. I loved the surround package so much, I ended up adding 2 more bipolar surround rears, which also arrived and did not disappoint.Overall appearance is well above this price range.Output companioned with the Yamaha RX-V685 is phenomenal. After a few hours of break-in the speakers were very full sounding and clear of any distortion.Added a pair of Polk 10 Inch subs for better stage feel up front and working with a 150 inch projection 4K setup.I would certainly buy again and would recommend to others. For that great sound, but not a lot of unjustified costs that seem to be pervasive in home audio and prosumer choices.A. P 5
I’ve never heard of this brand but after tons of research plus the positive reviews I rolled the dice and scored. They come well packed and feel solid. My old speakers were pretty bad so maybe the bar’s a little low. Two things, you’re gonna want a sub, at just 49 Hz on the main speakers they really require a decent sub. Second thing, the feet, they’re lame and on carpet they make the top heavy speaker feel very unstable plus I live in earthquake country. Otherwise they sound awesome, ‘specially for the price point. I hooked them to a Harman-Kardon AVR and a 10” sub and I’m happy, got a great system without getting soaked!Highzee 5
The speakers arrived quickly and i was impressed by the appearance. I was more impressed by the sound quality and extremely happy i made the decision to purchase them.Phil 5
I bought these SXHTB-BK speaker system and I was blown away... the sound is breathtaking and they are also beautifully designed. I got these to replaced speakers that were not only miss-matched but also over 15 years old. I couldn't believe my ears... had to turn down the 6.3khz and 16khz on my equalizer because it was so shrill on the high end side. The rear book shelve speakers were a little smaller then I expected but produce a great sound too. Going to add the SX6-BK Elite High Definition Two-way Bookshelf speakers to expand the rear soon. Thanks for designing such a great system at such an affordable price point.Mark L 5
My 5 part Fluance speakers rig was purchased 17 years ago, and with a decent sub it still sounds great. The placement of speakers is a little different: Mine has the tweeter in the middle, but otherwise look much the same. DAMN it's been a SOLID VALUE!See all reviews John M 5
....just listening to them made we want to see if the company was still in business, as it was an insane value at the time. (just over $200 for 5 speakers, which all still sound more amazing than my space can handle)
I can't think of any other purchase which performs a complicated function that has held up over time like this.
My old speakers are amazing!
When they fail, I'll come back to Fluance first, looking for a replacement.
