I was using a 2.4Ghz transmitter/receiver but I had to turn 0 people found this helpfulI was using a 2.4Ghz transmitter/receiver but I had to turn off the transmitter every time a started my computer or I would be unable to connect to my WAN. The 5.8Ghz ended that frustration. I do have a 5.8Ghz cordless phone that occasionally switches channels and totally blocks the signal. We transmit our Tivo signal using this system and after purchasing a few extra receivers we can now watch everything on our Tivo all over the house. We even take a receiver and small TV out on the deck in the summer so we can watch tivo everywhere with no need to buy an extra Tivo box or monthly subscription. It's also important to remember that you can listen to the music saved on your computer through your main stereo system wirelessly as long as you have a Tivo connected. Installed the TV and used the Nyrius transmitter hooked to my cable box and the receiver at the TV. Worked perfectly out of the box when I hooked everything up! Very pleased, it works as advertised. ByAtlantaManon February 2, 2012 I acquired this product to be able to watch TV in the basement while working out. That is the only time I use this TV and did not want to put any money into additional cable hardware to set up a basement TV. I had this unit out of the box and working perfectly within 15 minutes. I was a bit concerned about the signals making it through some of the furniture and flooring between the transmitter and receiver but even going through an entertainment center cabinet and through a 3/4 inch plank oak floor the signal was perfectly clear at a distance of about 30 feet. It is important to align the antennas just as directed in the instructions to get optimal results, but upon doing so I have both the audio/video and the remote IR functions working great. When you are transmitting up or down a floor it can be tricky to estimate exactly where the other unit is from a line of sight perspective, but a few minutes of careful thought about this will help you get the antenna lined up with each other quickly. Additionally you need to make sure the rounded sides of the discs face each other; it would be easy to have one of the discs turned the wrong way and not notice, so watch out for that. Finally, the remote IR extension cable that goes on the transmitter side is a bit short in my opinion. To have the transmitter unit located reasonably in an entertainment center with the best flexibility, another foot of cable length on the IR extender would really help. For my setup anyway, I had to have the transmitter placed behind the IR receiver on my cable box and then use the extender cable to position the IR trasmitter in front of my cable box. I got it about where I wanted it but didn't like being so tethered to the length of the IR cable to get there.
