Generally new to the vinyl world, so was excited to have a better quality player. Had some trouble with setup but the issue was due to lack of experience and not reading instructions carefully.Sarah T. 5
I can't be more pleased. I did a ton of research on turntables prior to purchasing the RT83. Here's what it came down to. If I buy a super expensive Turntable (TT) (I have never owned a TT nor have any experience with one) how would I know if it sounds good if I've never owned one before. It didn't make sense to spend a lot on something I may not like. I usually won't buy the first model of something because I believe there are bugs to work out to become a good product. That being said, after all my research, I bought the RT83. I bought this model because the stylus was stated to be better and "if" I want to upgrade it, to what I dont know, I can.Travis F 5
I can't speak to the instructions for setup because I didn't use them I watched a YouTube video that walked you through everything step by step.
It took me ~30 minutes from opening the box to dropping the needle on my first Album.... maybe 40 Minutes, its not a race and its better you take your time and you will get it right on the first try. Watch the video, pause it at each step, go back and watch it again if you want......too easy. All the scary talk online about not setting the Anti Skate and Tracking Force Bla, Bla, having to be dead-on or your TT will explode is nonsense. Watch the video, it will take you through it. Piece of cake!
Owning a TT takes a bit of care. Not like just wiping down the exterior of your AV equipment. With a TT, you need to make sure it is level, once level, clean the vinyl, and stylus before each album side is played. I also purchased the Fluance Record cleaning device and the TT weight. I dont mind pulling an album out, setting it on the platter, cleaning the album with the brush and then the felt side. Gently clean the stylus with the stylus brush. I add the weight to the platter (I do this because a dirty album damages a stylus. You don't want to listen to a dirty album anyway). I start the TT drop the needle and the analog sound, to me, is better on my system, than my digital sources. It's warm, full, and spacial.
If I spent more would it sound better? I no longer care, the RT83 sounds incredibly fantastic, looks gorgeous and in my opinion, lacks nothing......Well might I suggest, a good clean album and, a comfortable chair.
good value for a manual turntableBruce W 5
Absolutely beautiful very surprising of the quality of the product I recommendDaniel G 5
The Fluance RT83 turntable is absolutely amazing. Everything from the unique S shaped tonearm to the aggressive anti skating feature. Don't forget the isolation feet which absorb any vibrations interfering with the play of the music. The most important feature is the Ortofon 2M Red stylus cartridge also interchangeable with the 2M Blue stylus cartridge. The sound that pours out of your speakers is heavenly. The only minus that I got from the turntable is that the platter was a little flimsy but not a deal breaker.Christopher. D 5
I'm hearing things I've never heard before from songs I've been losing to for years. I've owned other turntables before. This one takes the cake so far. I switched out the head shell with a generic needle and that even sounded great. The Ortofon Red is a great needle but you may need to turn the bass up a bit. The Treble is perfect but the low end seems to not be there. The gloves and bubble level are a great touch. THIS IS HOW MUSIC SHOULD BE TREATED!Tyler C 5
Can't stop playing itChris 5
Sounds just awesome
I finally have a turntable that can let me play my vinyl Loud. My old Micro Seiko was great but the Fluance RT83 and acrylic platter shine. I bought two head shells so I can A-B my other cartridges. A AT530em and a Grado gold all thru a Marantz 2252 and four JBL L100T's. My 71 year old ears are happy. Vinyl is king and Fluance has crowned it.Robert 5
Been away from vinyl for 22 years after leaving the UK, wanted back in, got the RT83W and set her up and haven't stop listening since, great clarity and excellent build quality, a player with excellent components that out performs its price well done FluancePeter 5
Fast delivery from Fluance: living in Toronto, I received my RT83 within a week. So far, this is a really good product (which I upgraded from an old LP60), easy to assemble. Just struggled with adjusting the feet (4 stars for that) but the turntable was already pretty much levelled so not a big deal at the end. The auto stop function is a nice option!Tonio 4
Build quality is great at this price point, The Walnut glossy finish is very classy looking. I added an acrylic mat to replace the rubber one included. Arm seems very light but there are no issues. Speed is accurate. Worth the price.James M 5
This is my wife’s first turn table. We set it up with my Emotiva TA1 integrated amp. I’m using the CSS Torri speakers that I built. The sound is good, but I think I need a better phono pre amp than the one in my amp. I’m going to try a Ifi Zen and see what that does. The quality, packaging, and shipping were great.Chandler 5
Better than expected.Thomas S 5
went from a 30+ year old Sony to this. works and sounds great. time to clean up some old vinyl and add more new ones.John G 5
This is my first Fluance turnable and I couldn't be happier. Shipping was fast, it was easy to set up and sounds amazing.See all reviews Mark K 5
An amplifier is only needed if you’re connecting the turntable to passive speakers such as the Signature Series Bookshelf Surround Speakers.
If you’re looking for an option without a separate amplifier, the Ai40 Powered Bookshelf speakers fit the bill.
With the Ai40, all you need to do is connect the included RCA cables to your preamp, then to the speakers and you’re ready to listen to the music the way it was meant to be heard.
If you intend to use your Reference series turntable with powered bookshelf speakers such as our Ai40 model, a preamp will be required.
The preamp will boost the signal to line level (similar to a headphone jack) so you can play it on speakers with RCA or AUX inputs.
If you have a home theater or stereo receiver/amplifier, you will need a preamp if the amplifier does not have a PHONO input. If you have a PHONO input, you may have a preamp already built in. Be sure to refer to the manufacturer’s specifications or manual for confirmation!
This design choice was made with a number of factors in mind. The main reason was to separate electronics from the turntable’s signal path to maintain the purity of the analog signal. Many listeners also like to customize their listening experience and choose specific components such as preamps based on unique sonic qualities. Using separate components also allows for optimization of cartridge and phono stage compatibility. If you upgrade your cartridge in the future, you can pair with an optimal phono preamp to maximize performance and achieve the sound profile you desire. !
These new turntables include a servo belt drive motor.
