  1. A Reel Deal! 0 people found this helpful
    Overall Performance

I received this just before Christmas and I have already scanned twenty-four 50-feet 8mm film reels to digital files. So far this film scanner has worked flawlessly. At an average commercial cost of twenty-nine cents a foot for this service, the scanner has already more than paid for itself. I was careful to order the model that accepts seven-inch reels, since I had already loaded all of my fifty-feet reels onto seven-inch reels. Now I enjoying more than fifty years of memories that I had previously considered unrecoverable.

Great results! See photo to compare, on the left, film 8 mm transfer via a cam recorder, on the right, same film scanned with Magnasonic scanner.

  3. Fantastic! 0 people found this helpful
    Overall Performance

I have 45 home movies, reel-to-reel, ranging from 3' to 7', and both 8mm and Super 8. It was so hard to set up the projector, the movie screen, and watch them one by one. I got this digital convertor and it is fantastic! It's super easy to use. It takes a picture of each individual frame at a rate of 2 frames per second, so the movies come out perfect. It handled spliced film with ease. I could adjust the framing easily. I'm going to get software to put all of the movies together into 1 movie in chronological order. Now we can watch them whenever we want on our TVs or computers. Future generations will see our family members going back to 1950. Very special! Be sure to clean each film first with film cleaner and cotton gloves to get rid of dirt and residue. Your movies will come out perfect! And buying this machine is much cheaper than having them digitized professionally.

  4. Good quality videos - Glad I bought it 0 people found this helpful
    Overall Performance

I scanned 14 each 5', 8mm reels and 8 each, 3' Super8 reels. Films were from 1957 to 1979. Scanner did a great job, videos are easy to edit with Clipchamp. Sent all the videos out on YouTube to family members for Christmas. You'll need at least one 8 to 32 GB sd card. I formatted it each time I started a new video recording just to make sure SD card wouldn't fill up or corrupt between recordings. Really easy to use if you are somewhat tech savvy....Videos are much better than I expected. Don't get in a hurry, unit is slow, but faster than sending your film out....

  5. Great product!! 0 people found this helpful

Easy to use, but most importantly, the playback speed of 20 FPS is very close to the original recording speed of 18 FPS.
