What a pleasure to use. 3 people found this helpfulI have converted about 45 reels of 8mm. and Super 8 film to digital format on SD cards over the past week or so. What could make for better Christmas gifts, than being able to share long forgotten family memories with loved ones so easily? Some of the film went back to the 1960s ! The process was flawless, and incredibly easy to do, as the learning curve is not steep. It was very easy to adjust for sharpness and tracking if needed. This is a very reasonably priced quality piece of equipment, and Customer Support has been exemplary. I would be very hard pressed to buy anything other than Magnasonic, and I will purchase a scanner to convert 35mm. slides soon, once this project is completed. It has been a fun experience. As an aside, I should mention that some of our film was quite dusty. Between reels, I found that a couple of blasts from a can of compressed gas used to help keep cameras and keyboards clean, worked perfectly to keep the scanner window debris free. I am incredibly pleased with the purchase.

Works easily, instructions are useful 0 people found this helpfulI wasn't able to use this too much because the film I wanted to convert kept breaking (due to age of the film NOT the way the machine worked) BUT this device was very easy to use, and the instructions were clear and helpful. I have no complaints. Minor note: if you stop the scanning process, the 'count down' (displaying how much longer before scanning is done) resets. So, if a problem halfway through a 7' reel requires a stop, it tells you there are 4 and 1/2 hours to go to finish scanning the second half, but it will take half that time.

Default settings worked well. 0 people found this helpfulWas under a time deadline so did not test much just put it on the defaults and ran with it. Seems like the output was nice but I have nothing to compare it to. Definitely did what I wanted it to do. Used a projector to rewind the films which I am sure was faster. Have to unstick the film sometimes but I think that was more a problem with 60 old film then the device. I would recommend it!

does what it says 2 people found this helpfulI purchased this so that I can digitize the whole movies from my family growing up. I also found some film that I had shot as a teenager that I had forgotten about. I was able to digitally capture all these films and share them with friends and family. It does what it says.

Need to keep an eye on it while transferring. 2 people found this helpfulIt works well and it was great to be able to transfer old 8mm and Super film to video. A great hit for the family. There is a bit of a learning curve and you need to keep an eye on it while it is being copied and it is slow, as it copies one frame at a time. Perhaps an hour and a half for a small 8mm reel. It's useful to have video editing software to add titles at the heads and tails of the video transfer.
