Based on the reviews here and on YouTube, it seemed like it would be decent. The quality is better than anticipated. The sound is as clear and crisp as anything I've heard on much more expensive turntables. It feels solidly built and looks elegant. If you want high quality at an entry level price, this is it.

But be sure your receiver has a preamp, or you have one. Glad I took a chance on this brand. They have a loyal customer now!

Thank you very much Fluance! 4 people found this helpfulFluance RT82 Review: If I should point out a single feature of the Fluance RT82 that delights me, it is its rotational speed accuracy and musicality – I measured its speed the old-style, using a strobe disk and a halogen lamp, and the strobe lines did not move a single noticeable bit over a few minutes as I watched them. Using the RPM app on my smartphone reconfirmed the results. The speed is spot on accurate from several seconds after the first move of the platter and for several hours of use, as I kept testing/measuring. Of several turntables in my life, only my ancient Pioneer PL-300 was as accurate and musical. The RT82 might even be more musical. The RT82 has many additional qualities: a very solid build, pleasant to touch and smooth in use, all cables detachable and ready for upgrade if one wishes, detachable head shell easy for cartridge replacement, an excellent finely made aluminum platter with very firm thin rubber mat, while anyway offering an upgrade path to the Fluance acrylic platter. The cute little bubble style level is very useful. The adjustable feet are great and feel great in the hand during adjustment. And, the RT82 easily is the greatest, unbeatable, value-to-price ratio that I could run into. The competition should be seriously worried. I used the RT82 as delivered from Fluance for about a week. BTW, the delivery was flawless. The RT82 was a true pleasure which met and in some ways, especially with the speed accuracy, musicality and unusually large sound stage, exceeded all my expectations. I could not resist upgrading it though: got the Fluance acrylic platter, which noticeably firmed up the sound as well as significantly reduced static electricity problems on cold and dry Canadian days, has enabled me to wipe the dust much more thoroughly than off the rubber mat, and the acrylic looks even more beautiful than on the pictures; bought two more Fluance head shells and now having the total of three, I am using the Shure M97xE cartridge, or with the LPGear Vivid stylus upgrade for Shure M97, or the Ortofon 2MRed for which I also have a spare stylus, the Ortofon OM Stylus 10 that came with the RT82 and for which I have two spare OM5e styluses, compatible as I understand. So, a plenty of options on offer thanks to the smart design of the RT82; and for the finish, I have upgraded the RCA signal cables that the RT82 came with, excellent cables but anyway, to a pair of pure-silver, single-crystal RCA signal cables. A great purchase 6 people found this helpfulThis was my first turntable, opted for the 82 because the servo motor was the most important feature to me. I figured I could save some money and upgrade the cartridge down the line. Loved the 82, but only made it a year before getting a 2M blue. Should have gone for the 84 to start. This is a very high-quality turntable. Great features, amazing aesthetics, and the sound is beautiful. I love the classic minimalist design without any real sacrifice in quality or features. Something I can cherish for a long while. I Don't see every replacing it. It's perfect for me.
